This is my second diesel air heater and is by far my favorite. This 8kW diesel parking heater from HCALORY caught my attention because of all the attention that went into the design. I really like how the diesel tank, air heater, and controls are packaged into such a good looking and durable plastic case. The hinges and latches on the case are easy to cycle and gain access to the internals.HCALORY included everything needed to set this heater up, all I needed to do was fill the diesel tank and the heater was ready to go. I am impressed with the quality of the heater and components; the exhaust line, muffler, air intake and heater hose were easy to work with and fit on the heater as they should. One feature that I was impressed with is that a 110 V AC power supply and 12 volt DC power cord is included: its a great value to be able to power this diesel air heater using shore power or battery power. I am powering mine with a 20 amp hour LiFePO4 battery and works great.I have not used the phone app to control the heater, but I have used the remote control and control panel; both options work great and found operation of the heater to be very simple. I am using this heater to heat my enclosed trailer that I use for ice fishing and camping. I like that I can set this heater up outside to pipe warm air into the trailer through the fuel door, or I can run it inside the trailer and vent the heaters exhaust through the fuel door. When camping I like to keep the heater outside to conserve space but when ice fishing keeps it inside to prevent the diesel from gelling in the cold. I am very pleased with this diesel air heater, so far so good.
This is the new TB2 (toolbox 2) model. I had the previous model and this new one is a solid upgrade. Especially with the fuel take located inside the unit rather than on the side, which caused the unit to tip. The plastic case feels more durable than the previous model, the pump is quieter, the screen is easier to read with Fahrenheit temps, and cleaner digital display, more range on the heating 1-10. The app is simple easy to use. The remote has a soft feel to it.
This diesel heater makes some serious heat! It comes with the AC/DC per supply so that you can plug into standard home outlets for power, or you can use a 12 volt deep cycle battery, a Lifepo4 battery or in a punch you can use a car battery to power the heater. With diesel fuel, you get a ton of heat, up to 27k BTU, and fuel use is minimal. Running on level 10, you can get around 8 hours of constant run time from a tank of fuel. But get your area warm and drop the heat output to level 3 or 4 and you'll get far longer run time.
You can control the machine in the digital display, or you can Bluetooth your phone to the machine using the Hcalory phone app and control it from a reasonable distance with just your phone.
Note that on high, I'm seeing 340+ degree exhaust pipe temps, so you'll need to be cognizant if that as your running the flex pipe.
But overall, I was able to hear my 38'x26' garage on a 52 day to 66 degrees on level 4 heat output. That's a comfortable garage temp, and I was not pushing on the machine hard at all.
Initial light up after the first fuel up did throw a code the first time it tried to start. I let it shut down safely, and I powered it on again, and within about 2 minutes it was up and burning clean and making heat. I like it, I'm gong to take it to my mountain camp and use it for heating in the winter. Really nice features, great value and the build quality looks too be outstanding.
Update. It's 41 degrees outside, we are at our 20'x20' 2 floor hunting camp. I have the diesel heater on the porch and pushing air in a window that I cut a plank of rough cut 1" x 12" lumber to fit. The heater was filled up and turned on at 5pm yesterday, and it's ran non stop on level 3 of 10. We slept all night in comfort with the soft constant hum of the fan. In 14 hours, we've consumed half a tank of fuel, around a gallon. It's 72 inside the camp. Honestly, at that rate of fuel consumption, it's less expensive by far than a kerosene heater, offroad diesel is just over $3.50 a gallon today, while kerosene is $4.99. And my kerosene heaters use fuel faster and have the danger of the fire inside and off the CO2 gas threat. I'm pretty happy, I'm going to get a second diesel heater for when it's really cold and I can run one in the front and one in the rear of the building rather than a pair of kerosene heaters.
This portable diesel heater works well and based on following the start up directions, is easy to use. This unit includes a 12v power supply, exhaust pipe, and various set up parts. The accessories are loose but we found that they fit into a 50 size metal box after slightly modifying the bend in the exhaust pipe. Initially we were going to keep the exhaust pipe inside - the side of the heater housing but decided it might be forgotten and cause issues. On this model, the heat duct is on the opposite end from the control panel. We liked this feature, thinking that if it was reversed, long term exposure to heat might affect the controls. Having the handle made this easy to transport and adding the separate storage box ourselves made the kit very travel ready. The 12v power supply allows this unit to function plugged into a basic household outlet or clamps to attach to a vehicle battery.
We cannot at this point speak for longevity but see no issues of concern. If things change, we will be back to update the review. Our rating based on the details above is 5 Stars.
I hope my thoughts and photos help someone.
This heater looks well made and the controls look easy to operate. It's 90 hear in florida so I haven't tested the heat output i will in about a month. The functions looks super easy to control. It is app controllable but not needed. Supposed to come with key fob. Mine did not. So instructions.... instructions are not straightforward. It shows installation one way but you can't do it that way it looks like it was put together backwards. Could be wrong though . In the instructions it says use the air intake on the exhaust side . So just swith them easy fix. Overall I am happy with it but won't know how good it truly is until it gets colder.
