I got one of these as an experiment to see if it would heat my 2 car garage expecting to send it back. Surprisingly, it hits my two car garage great. I was heating from below freezing to comfortable shop temperature in about half an hour. At full blast, it will run for about eight hours on a tank of fuel. I’m just using regular diesel fuel. I could see using this in my hunting tent as well.
I fitted this unit into a space that I had already had a heater installed in and had functioned well enough for months but it failed to run every time I tried to start it. Sometimes would start the second try, sometimes it wouldn't start after the 50th try. I had tested the voltage output, fuel pump, checked air intake, tested glow plug, checked for fuel leaks and blockages, removed and disassembled entire HCALORY brand heater and could find nothing visibly or functionally wrong with it, not dirty, no broken gaskets, the wiring was all continuous but could not get heater to run properly. After replacing said heater with this particular heater, the new one fired up first try and has not hiccupped once on startup or during regular operation in over a month of every day usage, regularly overnight, sometimes up to 48+ hours straight during major snowstorms. The Bluetooth App works well with my android phone! Being able to turn on and off the heater with my phone is a fun feature that I enjoy but isn't all that much more convenient than the remotes have ever been. The remote that comes with this heater is a little bigger than the prior ones but is of sturdy build quality and is conveniently preprogrammed to work with the controller.
I was surprised at the massive amount of heat coming out of this heater, and it doesn't use much fuel. I ran mine the first day for 14 hours continuously on less than 1 gallon. You can save considerable money if you purchase ruby red diesel fuel which doesn't have road tax. You cant buy it just anywhere tho, usually have to go to a farm type store or farmers fueling station. In central Kansas it is about $2.69 a gallon. You can also use kerosene as well, which puts out even more heat, but it is over $4 a gallon. Great Job! Cheers
I wanted a little heater for our cargo trailer that we converted to haul our SXS and camp in it. Didn't want to spend $500-1000 or more for propane heaters. I tested the heater in my shop before installing it and found the case gets quite warm when it's building max heat (output temperature is rising), so hot you couldn't touch the case in the hottest areas, which was near the outlet (measured over 200 degrees) . So i took the case off and lined it with vent duct tape. This did the trick. When it's running hard I measured 130-150 degrees output temp! That will cool some if you use ducting. I don't use the ducting. Our trailer is a 24ft with insulated walls and roof (except the front V nose walls. Not sure why the previous owner skipped that area). the floor is 1" thick but no insulation. So far the coldest temp we used it in was about 28 F over night and the heater had no problem keeping it at 68 F inside (this is what I set it to). During the day the temps went up to 38F outside and i let the heater run the trailer temp up to 77 before turning it down. It does take a few hours to go from 30ish to 70F. Not sure how much it will heat the trailer when the outside temps get down to 10-20f , but if we get to camp in those temps, I'll update this.
I found this very easy to install. I am an aircraft electrician by trade. If you are not handy, then you might have a tough time on install. I put this heater in my 18 ft cargo trailer and powered it. Pretty sure any 12v deep cycle battery would power it no problem for days. Once it's started, it uses very very little 12v DC. It puts out a lot of heat. We camped 2.5 days. High of 40°f low 28°f used 2 gallons of diesel on lowest setting. Kept wife and 1 year old baby warm the whole time. The hardware is very cheap but for the price of this thing, I was very happy with it. Tip: never remove 12v power while it's running. When you press the power button, there is a shutdown cycle that must happen. When your battery dies or you disconnect the heater without proper shutdown cycle, it will flood/ foul and won't work the next time without needing disassemble.
