“I’ve tested countless diesel heaters—Toolbox MAX is easily the most advanced and safest yet. This heater’s smart, steady, and seriously quiet. Hcalory really listened to user feedback.”
"I've been using diesel heaters to stay warm in the winter for a couple of years now. TB MAX has crazy fuel efficiency and super quiet operation, app, and WATERPROOF capabilities that change everything!"
"NO HASSLE Heating For My Truck, Camper, & Gym Shipping Container. This heater delivers fast, reliable heat every time. It’s my go-to diesel heater!"
"Diesel Heater keeps my tent warm all night—No fuss setup, fast warmth, and I can control it from my phone. Perfect for off-grid adventures."
“Plug it in, prime it, and you’ve got heat in minutes. Great for my winter tests and camp reviews. I like that it runs steadily at low watts. Reliable warmth without killing my power station.”
So easy to run. Poor in diesel, plug it in, open the App, tap Run... Done. Goes through a power up, takes a couple of 2-3 min....then it's quiet with very hot air blowing strongly. The air smells just like a new car. Ran on 17watts turned up on high. No ticking, no fuel smell, all you hear is air blowing. Way cool.
This is a great buy. I am building a little studio apartment, and I think this is going to be a great addition. First off, I have no power, so this is an off-grid heater. It runs great on a small power bank. Flawless setup and super easy to navigate with the app.
Love the Bluetooth feature. Works great as expected. Highly recommended!
This thing is awesome. Slept in the bed of my truck in 28° weather and was sweating, had to turn it down to 1 from 3. Would 100% recommend for overlanding and truck/car camping.
Although I really like that this comes as an "all in one" unit. It really is just a diesel heater, fuel tank, and all the controls inside carrying case. You still need to make sure you have a way to route the exhaust. (Which makes sense when you think about it.) I really like the design though. It's easy to move form the camper, to the garage, to the car, or anywhere else you need it. The portability really is awesome. The setup was pretty easy. I just added fuel and power and after the pump primed for a few minutes it fired right up. (It takes a minute or two to get fuel to the combustion chamber the first time and I couldn't get the "initial prime" to work from the controller.) The instructions for the controller are a little difficult. I tried reading through them a few times and pressing the buttons referenced, but without success. I'll have to play with it a little more to see if I can figure it out, but it DID provide heat and I could turn the heat up and down with the controller panel. That was good enough for that night. It makes all the noises you hear about on other heater reviews. The pump clicks consistently like a Grandfather clock and the fan whir is pretty loud on high. I gave a generous 4 stars but I'm pretty happy with it. It would be 5 stars for sure if the controller was more intuitive and easier to use.
This is a great heater but it needs a little work. First thing I did was mod it, these come with the typical white plastic diesel heater tank that norequires a hole be drilled in the bottom of the tank. An possigle leak point when the fuel fitting is on the bottom. Also the tank mounts to the heater's side about 3 inches higher then the bottom of the heater so when the tank is full the unit wants to tip if it's not solidly on level ground, even then it's a little sketchy. Had they designed it so the tank's bottom sat on the ground this wouldn't be an issue. I added a Rotopax style 1.3 gallon tank where the supplied tank is supposed to go except it was mounted it so the tank is also sitting on the ground, now the unit is very planted with no tendency to tip. It was an easy mod, first time I ever put fuel in this was on a camping trip, I was able to get it fired up with no trouble. It was in the high 30s at 10,000' and I was heating a large SUV tent. I ran the heater on low all night and it burned .4 gal of diesel. Most of the night I had to keep a tent window open so it didn't get too hot inside. It heats very well and quickly, no odd odors and it doesn't give off odor when stored. It's easy to use, as long as it has enough power just push the on button and wait a couple min, it'll be cranking out some heat shortly. The rugged case is nice, much better then a modded pelican case and if space and ruggedness is important, this is far better then the standing metal skinned heaters diesel heaters. These pull allot of AMPs during startup and often the smaller power boxes can't supply 10A of DC voltage reliably. A work around is get a 12V/10A power supply/brick like a laptop charger and run the heater off the A/C output on the power box and plug the brick's 12V DC into the heater. Once it's running it only needs juice for the fan and that's very little. I plan to use this to heat my garage cheaply in the winter. Not all the time but it puts out enough to warm it up pretty quickly and it will put out high heat it all day for about $4.
So, first thing to note is this comes only halfway assembled - mainly the internals. All the exterior components need to be screwed/mounted on. That being said, the case this comes in is cool but once you connect everything it really kind of defeats the purpose. Instructions are terrible and hard to understand.I did my guesswork and put everything together. Upon start up it draws quite a bit of power (I saw 100+ watts, not sure how accurate that is) but then steps down to only 18 watts on low, 50-ish on high.Within 5-7 minutes of first start up I had hot heat!Seems like other people either get one damaged or have power issues by not using a strong enough power source. We'll see how long it holds up but based off first test it's great.
